Johannes Steindl is the only member of Team Pokerstars from Austria. His background, like many of the top online poker players, lies in video gaming and more specifically the game Starcraft. Starcraft was one of the first ever real time strategy games, it had a science fiction theme and many believe that both Poker and Starcraft require similar attributes in order to succeed. After hearing about other Starcraft players moving into the online poker scene Johannes Steindl joined them and quickly became a feared opponent on the virtual felt. His online screen name is J.Steindl. Since then Johannes has managed 3 WSOP cashes and 3 money finishes in different Austrian poker events.

WSOP Career
As mentioned above Johannes has managed a total of 3 cashes in the World Series of Poker which isn’t bad considering he is mainly an online cash game player. His biggest World Series of Poker cash and his biggest live tournament cash on record came in 2007 when he finished 44th in the $3,000 No Limit Holdem event taking down a $10,728 prize. Johannes has also cashed for $9,212 in the World Championship Heads Up No Limit Holdem event at the WSOP. His one other cash came in a No Limit Holdem 6 max event in which he won $3,214 for a 64th place to finish. It is reported that Steindl believes that his tournament came is improving vastly and plans to play more EPT events in the coming months in order to secure that really big tournament score.
Online Career
Johannes considers himself an online cash game specialist and can usually be find grind it out in the $5/$10 No Limit Holdem games at Pokerstars. Even though he is mainly a cash game player Steindl has managed to amass online tournament winnings of over $15,000. Most of which came in a $12,000 score in one of Pokerstars $800 No Limit Holdem freezeout tournaments.
