Lex Veldhuis Poker Player Profile

Lex Veldhuis is part of Team Pokerstars and is probably better known by his online screen name ‘RaSZi’. He was born in a small town call Vlissingen in the Netherlands and is an ex Starcraft player turned poker professional. For those that don’t know Starcraft is a real time video game which many believe shares the same attributes to achieve success that poker does. Lex Veldhuis was persuaded to give online poker a try after becoming friends with Bertrand Grospellier, better known as ElKy, who is said to have sent Lex his first ever $10 to play online poker with via Pokerstars transfer.

Lex is one of pokers naturals and shot through the stakes from the moment he started playing until he had become a well known name in some of the highest stakes online games available. He is also of said to have had $300 left over in his Pokerstars account and in the space of two days he managed to build it up to over $100,000 playing mostly $25/$50 heads up No Limit Holdem, the day after he sat with online poker ace Isaac Baron and lost it all to him playing $100/$200 heads up. Veldhuis has topped the Pokerstars tournament leader board on two occasions and is without doubt one of the most successful online poker players around. Looking his cash game stats up online reveals that he is actually on a sick $231,000 downswing since October 2008 but has played over 1 million hands of online poker in that time period.

Live Tournament Successes

Lex Veldhuis has a very impressive record in live poker events with total live tournament winnings of over $400,000. He has managed 7 cashes in the World Series of Poker to date with his first coming in the 2007 Worlds Championship Pot Limit Holdem event in which he placed 35th and took down $14,030 in prize funds. His biggest ever cash in the WSOP and his biggest ever live tournament cash came in 2009 in the $40,000 No Limit Holdem 40th Anniversary event when he came in 7th place from a very impressive $277,939.

Lex also has two EPT cashes to his name totalling over $21,000 in prize money as well as a whole host of other smaller tournament scores. At the moment Veldhuis spends his time split between Las Vegas and the Netherlands playing high stakes cash games and live events including most European Tour tournaments.
