The first World Series of Poker cash in William Thorson’s poker career came in 2006 when he came 201st in the $2,000 No Limit Holdem WSOP event, the prize money was $1,632 which was actually less than the initial buy in but just making the money in such a big field is an achievement in itself. After this small cash Thorson proved to the world he has what it takes in the 2006 $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event when he managed an awesome 13th place finish taking home $907,128, the same year Jamie Gold eventually went on to be crowned champion. Thorson came back to the World Series of Poker in 2007 and managed to score another big cash in the $5,000 World Championship Limit Holdem tournament ending up 3rd for $136,493.

Alongside his impressive WSOP record Thorson has managed two cashes at in World Poker Tour events and 4 cashes on the European Poker Tour. His first EPT cash came in 2006 in the Irish Masters 5,000 Euro buy in event. Thorson took down an impressive 3rd place and with it 184,780 Euros which equates to $222,127. The European Poker Tour has been seriously profitable for Thorson on the whole. After his Irish Masters final table he has managed a 9th place finish in the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure (now part of the EPT) winning $120,000, a 6th place finish in the 4,700 Euro buy in EPT San Remo for 140,600 Euros ($222,127) and a 7th in the 2009 EPT event at Dortmund which had a 5,00 Euro buy in winning him $146,314. It’s clear from his results that the man’s got talent!
